Master Drummer,Orlando Primo
was born on December 12, 1986 at the David’s Memorial Hospital, in Georgetown, Guyana, South America.
Being the seventh of eleven other siblings, he began playing drums at the tender age of seven with his brothers Jomo and Kurt as a beginner at the many thanksgiving services his father spearheaded. He was not really a quick learner at the drums, but his dad and brothers always remained spellbound at the melodious and stirring rhythms he created.
Orlando began playing drums at the tender age of seven with his brothers at their father’s spiritual services. From there he continued to improve and excel in his art. He and his brothers formed a group called the Primo Brothers in 2003. The group won the EKaabo Kabiesi Competition in 2004, 2006 & 2007 and placed second in the African Cultural Association Drumming Competition in 2005.
Renowned for his drumming, Orlando launched Majek Fingers Drumming School, the first drumming school in Guyana. He believes in using and imparting his gifts and talents and takes great pleasure sharing his skill and knowledge with youth and adults of all backgrounds.
Majek Fingers drum school is built upon two pillars: to inspire and to educate. Majek Fingers won 1st place at the Rupununi Music Arts Festival 2013.
